Acupuncture and Oriental  Medicine
Ancient Oriental medicine has been in use over 4500 years. Today, it is the oldest continually practiced professional medicine in the world. Oriental medicine has a unique perception of the body, health and disease. Every patient is evaluated for the strength and quality of the Qi and blood in their body. Qi (vitality) is a fundamental concept which is best explained by it functions:

  • Warms the body
  • Controls all movement within the body
  • Raises and holds internal substances and organs in position

The physician combines all relevant patient information and symptoms, forming a “pattern of disharmony” profile. A treatment plan is formulated to harmonize the patient’s entire body and bring it back into a healthy balance.

An example of how we define health

Health is a manifestation of balance

This is true both within the body and the external environment. When the body is internally balanced and in harmony with the external environment, energy flows smoothly throughout to nourish all organs and tissues. By adjusting and stimulating the flow of energy through acupuncture, we stimulate the body's natural healing ability to maintain health and protect against disease.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture needles are very flexible and are the diameter of a human hair. They are inserted shallowly into the acupuncture points on the body.

In Oriental medicine, each acupuncture point is on a channel or meridian. These meridians are pathways that carry Qi and blood throughout the entire body.  These meridians compare to radio waves with their own distinct frequency. Sometimes we need to fine tune these radio signals when they get out of adjustment.

Electro Meridian Imaging ( EMI )

EMI is a contemporary acupuncture diagnosis and meridian evaluation system.  It measures the body's electro magnetic resistance at key acupoints. This will determine if  meridian is within or outside the accepted boundaries of the body. The meridian can be measured and graphed. Progress can then be charted, compared and printed out for the patient.
